The beginning!

I have taken the personal choice to leave slimming world for a little while. It has been amazing for me, a great boost to get to my 3 1/2 stone loss, which I shall always be very thankful for. But lately I've been thinking of my long term health. I never planned to join Slimming World, get to my target and then go back to eating like I was. I knew it was a life style change. For short term it's been great but for long term effect I was worried. I began hearing alot about these diet and low fat foods not being quite as good for you as they seem, so I did some reading and carried on reading and the more I read and studies I discovered, I was more shocked at some of their ingredients and the side effects they can cause long term. I began my own little mission of comparing fat free, low calorie, low fat, diet drink products (results I will share in another post!) And seeing how much fake sugars, additives etc were added to compensate for the low fatness was unreal and it really made me think.

Would we not be better off having full fat foods and 100% real foods?
And the key being moderation?
Surely it's best to get your vitamins and minerals from pure sources?

So after about 3/4 weeks of doing my own little research I came across the Paleo Lifestyle otherwise known as The Caveman Diet.
Here is abit of background info:

The term 'Paleo' is based upon eating wholesome, contemporary foods from the food groups our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have thrived on during the Paleolithic era, the time period from about 2.6 million years ago to the beginning of the agricultural revolution, about 10,000 years ago. These foods include fresh meats (preferably grass-produced or free-ranging beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and game meat, if you can get it), fish, seafood, fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and healthful oils (olive, coconut, avocado, macadamia, walnut and flaxseed). Dairy products, cereal grains, legumes, refined sugars and processed foods were not part of our ancestral menu.

Before you say it no I'm not about to change into my Wilma Flintstone outfit, move into a stone hut and drag a club round with me for the rest of my life. It's really not that drastic.
It basically cuts out the 'crap' of modern day processed and refined foods.

Here is a list of NO foods:
Cereal grains
Legumes
Dairy
Refined sugar
Potatoes
Processed foods
Salt
Refined vegetable oils.

Here is a list of YES foods:
Grass Fed meats
Fish/seafood
Fresh fruits and veggies
Eggs
Nuts and seeds
Healthful oils (Olive, walnut, flaxseed, macadamia, avocado, coconut)

It's basically a much simpler, purer way of eating. As I understand so far. I can't preach too much as I'm only on day one. But the ethics and reasoning behind the theory I completely agree with.
I'm up for giving it a go and already my food shopping bill wasn't as much as it usually is. (see photo below to see how good it all looks)

So on my menu for the coming week are yummy smoothies, nutritional juices and lots of proteins, vegetables and fresh fruits. I will ofcourse share my recipes on here and will be keeping a diary of how it all goes so make sure you subscribe!
I'm not keyboard warrioring here, these are my own thoughts and opinions. I know this topic is of huge debate so feel free to pop your view below in comments.
